Bowl is Put to the Test

While the  brains at Spohn Ranch had gone above and beyond with double and triple checking the engineering behind the portable concrete bowl, there was still one main unanswered question going into the Dew Tour’s first Skate Bowl event in Ocean City – how would it skate?  As the installation was nearing the final hours, Chris Miller was about to burst with anticipation – ” I don’t want to claim too hard, but if it skates as good as it looks, the Dew Tour Bowl might be one of the best ever!”

As soon as the final flatwork sections cured, the Spohn Ranch crew,  along with Chris Miller, Bucky Lasek, Andy McDonald and Steve Caballero put it to the test.  The overwhelming response was “this bowl is insanely awesome!!!”.  A few Facebook updates from Cab, a true skateboarding pioneer, put things in perspective:

“Ok you guys… This bowl is amazing! So smooth and so many lines in this thing, can’t wait to ride it again tomorrow for qualifying 🙂 hope I make it in!”

“This bowl is insane and i can’t believe it’s portable too and going to Portland next, amazing time we live in these days :)”

After three days of amazing skating from the top professional skaters in the world, Pedro Barros, Bucky Lasek and Ben Hatchell ended up on the podium.  To check out the highlights from the first Dew Tour Skate Bowl contest, check the video below!  And here’s a recap of the event via Alli Sports.
